Repairing a Flat Roof on a Mobile Home

New Metal Roof on a Mobile HomeAs with any residential roof, a flat roof on a mobile home comes with its own set of advantages and challenges. Often, these are metal roofs that are designed for durability. However, even metal and tough coatings succumb to the damage of the Florida sun and rain. When you have a leak, Roberson Roofing Inc. provides quality roofing in Daytona Beach, FL.

There are several ways to repair damage to a flat roof. We will evaluate your mobile home and make the appropriate suggestion. Two typical roofing repairs include:

Sealing and Coating – When you have a leak, simply adding a new coating won’t necessarily fix the problem. That’s because this layer is intended to protect against the sun’s rays, not prevent water damage. The real solution will be to remove previous coats, smooth and clean the surface, and then identify and repair damaged areas with neoprene or polyurethane sealant. Next, the roof will be ready for new layers of elastomeric coating.

Roof-Over – In certain situations, especially when the damage isn’t too extensive, applying a new roof on top of the existing one, also called a roof-over, may be the right choice. When this is done, the existing roof should still be sanded and sealed. Next, we can use a seamless rubber roof, PVC, EPDM, or other quality roofing material for the roof-over.
