We believe that your roof is important not only because it protects you from the elements but because it is important to the structure of the building and ultimately protects all those belongings that you hold dear! 

We recommend that you get your roof inspected regularly but some of the things you should be looking out for are:-

1. Broken or loose shingles.
2. Curled or blistered shingles.
3. Loose shingles or rusty metal (flashing) in the valleys, chimneys etc. All leaves and other debris may have to be moved to inspect the roof more fully.  A lot of leaf debris may cause problems with your roof if not dealt with promptly and regularly.
4. Missing shingles or tiles
5. Exposed and loose nails.  These can cause holes which may lead to leaks.
6. Dark patches on asphalt shingles may indicate that the granular coating is wearing away.
7. Dark patches on slate roofs can sometimes indicate mold.
8. Sagging in any part of the roof.
9. Blisters in the coating of flat roofs.

It is also important to inspect your roof from the inside:-

1. Check to see if there is any outside light visible from the attic.
2. Signs of leakage in the attic.
3. Are there any water stains visible on the wood.
4. If there are water stains is the wood still wet and soft.  If so this is a recent problem.
